Why the Federation?
Comraderie, of course. But competition, learning more about bass fishing, going to the next level...going to the BASS Masters Classic! If you are interested in pursuing these goals, then the Federation is for you. The affiliated BASS clubs and their members are the roots of the Federation. The trail to the Classic through the Federation is a long, hard journey. But 5 people make it every year from the Federation.

Now a little on how to get there. If you fish your club all year, and rank in the top 6, then you and your club team are qualified to enter the Federation State Tournament. Here you will compete with all other clubs in the state. You win prizes at this event based on how your TEAM performs. But you advance to the BASS Regional Tournament as an individual. The top six individual finishers at the state tournament qualify for the next level, and that is the BASS Regional Tournament. Texas sends 12 to this tournament, and you now know how six get there.

Texas is broken into six regions. Most states are not broken into regions. But due to the size and the participation level in Texas, we have six. Each region has a tournament trail, open to all Federation members within that region. That is what this website is all about - the Northeast Region, and the tournament trail for our region. If you fish all these tournaments based on the rules, then the Angler of the Year from this region gets an automatic berth to the BASS Regional Tournament. Since Texas has six regions, this is where the other 6 are found, to make up our 12 man team. It is this 12 man team that represents Texas at the Regional Tournament.

The Regional Tournament is held at a lake within our geographic region. Last year, it was held on the Atchafalaya Basin. At the regional tournament, you are again a team of 12 representing Texas. But again, you advance based on your individual standings. But you are only competing against the other 12 people from Texas! That's right - at the regional tournament, you are only fishing against the other 11 guys on your team to advance. The top state angler from each state represented at this regional tournament fishes the National Federation Championship. This is the ESPN televised event that we see each year. You fish out of sponsor boats, and it is a very big deal. From the Federation Championship, only 5 advance. Since every state and a few countries are represented, you are only fishing against about 55 others. But the top 5 individuals advance to the BASS Masters Classic!

We hope you share the interest as we do, and become part of a federated club!
