11.48 lbs.
Yes, this is the biggest bass I have ever caught! It was Easter weekend. I did not have anything planned so I packed up and went to Amistad for the weekend. The lake was empty. I went all the way up to marker 17 to fish hog island. Some fish were still on beds, but most were in a post spawn pattern. I started throwing a carolina rigged 3" power craw, with a hair jig hook. It was a unique set up, almost as unique as an 11 pounder! I fished for about 15 minutes before I saw the fish. I was fishing in 7 ft of crystal clear water with spotted hydrilla on the bottom. When the lure was close enough, I could see this huge fish follow my rig with each pull. On the third pull while I could see her, she ate it. I immediately dropped the tip and set into her. She fought valiently, and I lipped her after she was worn out. I yelled 'WHOOOOP' at the top of my lungs. Not a person in sight. I did not realize how big she was until I turned her sideways and saw her girth. I threw her in the livewell and went straight into Anglers Lodge to have her weighed. I could not believe the size of her!

10 lbs. 9 oz.
This was another awesome fish. Lana and I just started dating. This was our first trip down to Falcon together. We fished on Saturday, and the best I could do was a couple of fish with a 4 pounder as the biggest. We slept in on Sunday, but finally got on the water around 8:30 am. We launched at state park, and idled out to the first point to the north. There is a long, rocky, underwater point there. I started cranking it with a deep diving crankbait that ran about 15 ft deep. Within an hour and a half, I caught 5 fish that weighed 33 lbs 9 oz. This 10-9 was the anchor of that stringer. To this day I still have my wife fooled. She still thinks I am one heck of a fisherman!

45 lb. Catfish
No, I was not fishing for catfish! I was throwing crankbaits through hardwood at Coleto Creek. I was throwing the crankbait on Newtech braid, 50 lb test. I was fishing with my Dad, pre-fishing for a Federation Tournament. This catfish hit the crankbait like a freight train, and immediately started pulling drag. He went around two different trees, and I just kept tension on him and tried to follow him. About 20 minutes later, he was whipped. I got him close to the boat, but he would not fit into the net. I had to make a lasso with my anchor rope, lassoed him into the boat and took him back to the RV. He was about 45 pounds and would have been the lake record had I weighed him on certified scales. They did not have certified scales at the lake, so I decided to let him go.
